If you're interested in being cast for Tap or Hip Hop, you must attend those specific auditions. Hip Hop and Tap dancers must enroll in the corresponding technique class.

Move Dance Company is intentionally structured to support both dancer development and family life. Excellence without overextension.
- Attendance at all rehearsals is expected
- Required technique classes must remain active the full season
- Elective styles require enrollment in the corresponding class — no exceptions
- No Sunday classes or rehearsals
- Most dancers attend the studio approximately three days per week
- Artist & Auteur tracks include approximately 3–5 competition weekends between November and May
- Full Season 14 calendar released in July

What is Move Dance Company?
Move Dance Company (MDC) is the performance and competitive company program of Move Dance Family. We offer two paths — Performance Company (ages 5–7, community performances only) and Competitive Company (three tracks: Emerge, Artist, and Auteur). All paths share the same values: cultivating individual artists, breaking molds, and developing whole humans through dance.
How do auditions work?
The final Season 14 audition is Monday, June 2. Dancers attend the audition slot for their age group and selected track. Our artistic team evaluates technique, performance quality, coachability, and readiness. Auteur is not auditioned for — it is invitation only, selected by Mallorie and the artistic team after auditions.
What's the difference between Performance Company and Competitive Company?
Performance Company (ages 5–7) is style-based and family-first — dancers perform at approximately 7 community events per season with lower commitment and cost. Competitive Company includes regional competitions and conventions, with three tracks (Emerge, Artist, Auteur) that match different levels of readiness and commitment. Dancers age 7 must choose between Performance Company and Emerge — the two cannot be combined.
How much does competitive dance cost?
Total investment varies by track and age division. New this year: we've built a Dynamic Tuition Calculator so you can see exactly what your monthly tuition will be based on your dancer's selected track, division, and class load — before you commit. Costs include monthly tuition for required classes, costumes, competition entry fees, and convention fees for Artist and Auteur tracks.
How many hours per week do company dancers train?
Most dancers train approximately three days per week, including required technique classes and company rehearsals. Hours scale by track and age — Emerge dancers have a limited class load, while Artist and Auteur dancers carry the full required class load. We intentionally protect Sundays — no classes or rehearsals — to support family life.
What is the Auteur track and how is it earned?
Auteur is our invitation-only convention track. It is not applied for — it is earned through advanced ability for age, commitment to excellence, and proven reliability. Mallorie and the artistic team identify Auteur dancers after auditions based on these criteria.
